I am a firm believer of life-long learning. I have dedicated my life to learning and consider it a gift that needs to be cherished until the end of my days. I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area when I was seven years old. I graduated from Rockwall High School in 2003, and I received my Associates Degree at Eastfield Community College in 2006. I graduated Cum Laude on 10 May 2014 and received my Bachelors of Science Degree in History and in English from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
After a year of teaching at multiple grade levels, I decided to go back to TAMU-C for a Masters Degree in History with a Certification in Public History. My Masters of Arts Degree in History and my Certification in Public History, of which I was the first student in TAMU-C history to receive said Certification, were conferred on me 15 December 2017 with a final GPA of 3.85. Along with my Public History Certification, I have multiple Teacher Certifications. During my time as a graduate student I was a graduate assistant in the Special Collections and Archives on campus, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to preserve history for future researchers and educators to use.
I have become truly passionate about this archival niche in the field of History, and have carried it on in my work for The Sherman Museum. I also enjoy educating future generations about history and its significance, and have done so as an Adjunct Professor for Grayson College. I am very excited to continue sharing my love and passion for history with my students at Tyler High School.
The Past lies upon the Present like a giant's dead body.
